You always hear about it from acquaintances, family, or friends the agony they go through when their computer crashes. For many people, this is an earth shattering event that can cause a lot of unnecessary aggravation or grief. Thankfully, I am one who believes in backing up their files, so when the day comes that your computer hard drive fails, and the cyber Grim Reaper comes a callin' a "Blue Screen of Death" the problem isn't all that painful.
I guess I can consider myself lucky. In the 17 years I've had a PC, I have never suffered a hard drive failure. Mind you, I've owned six computers over the years, and have been rather religious about backing up my files. This saved me once when I downloaded a very nasty update from Microsoft when I had Windows 98 that completely hosed my computer.
The poor thing had to have it's OS completely reloaded onto the hard drive. However, sooner or later the law of averages will catch up with you. About a month ago, my four year-old 500GB Seagate Barracuda, started making a slight grinding noise. Then the problem progressed, and files on my computer started to become corrupt and freeze ups were starting to happen.
Even "System Restore" was acting funky and couldn't do what it was supposed to. Finally, came the dreaded Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) when I tried to re-start my computer. I knew at this point I needed professional assistance. Two of my friends highly recommended ICON Computer Solutions on US-12 in Wayne, Michigan. Located in the old Greyhound Bus Station, right on Michigan Avenue, this business is in an ideal location.
So I decided to take their advice and head over there, and see what they could do to solve my problems. To say I was really very impressed with high level of professional service they provided, would be an understatement! I can't tell you how many times I have heard horror stories from my friends, when they have taken their computer into a local repair shop.
Many places charge you a fee to even look inside your computer, and the price goes up from there as they try to identify the cause of problem(s) you're experiencing. However, this is not the case with ICON Computer Solutions. The person I dealt with was honest, and upfront all the way. Not only did he check my drive over, and came to the same conclusion that I was fearing about my drive failing, but recommended a good long-term solution to upgrade my computer to from Vista to Windows 7 Professional.
This was something I have been wanting to do for a long time, but hadn't taken the time to pursue. Moreover, the price was very reasonable compared to a lot of other shops that charge twice as much. Now my computer runs as quiet as a whisper, and is lightning fast. The next time I buy a new PC, I will take my business to ICON. They will custom build you a high performance machine to your specs that is far more dependable than the products made overseas from Dell, Compaq, or HP. Likewise, since they are in the area, service is only a phone call away, or they will come to your business or residence to pickup your computer. I give them five stars all the way!

I have had business dealing with Icon Computers in Wayne for a few years. I have always received the best customer service and both Brian and Billy have made sure that my computer needs were met. The prices were in my range, and if I ever had any issues all it took was one phone call and they took care of me. Great LOCAL business that CARES!
