Global Consulting had humble beginnings, with founder Shaw Droker's wish to work on PCs at the age of 10, when he learned how to do computer programming on the home computer owned by a friend's father. At that time, home PCs were not so popular; this one filled an entire spaces and stored all of its programming code on long, clumsy rolls of paper tape. But once Shaw had learned what he'd come to learn, he was hooked for life, with his first foray into professional computing in 1984, when he took a job as a developer at Atlas Technology.
Atlas was at the time in its infancy, doing custom programming for several companies. Shaw was one of its first workers. When Atlas started landing several lucrative contracts with Pacific Bell, it started growing. Shaw moved into technical and customer support, soon managing this growing department as well as the administrative office team. He was given the chance of a lifetime in the industry to learn everything he'd need to one day open his own firm.
Once Atlas Technology had grown to over 40 workers, Shaw was ready to move on to work for another small start-up, CAT-Links. Shaw was one of the first three workers of this small company; he was first hired to conduct phone technical support / help desk for legal industry customers. As this company grew to a national presence, Shaw was promoted to managing a large team of help desk professionals. He was recognized by customers for his abilities to ensure that their needs were met in a positive and rapid manner.
