Despite the poor reviews on this site, I decided to try this shop due to the location. I had a non-responsive laptop and I dropped it off to get diagnosed. I came back about a week later (I asked them not to rush, as I had a backup laptop) and all I got was my laptop which was still not functional and a diagnosis fee. I received zero information about the potential problem.
When I dropped it off, I suggested that it may be the video cable or the motherboard and that it may not be worth repairing. Other than getting payment, I do not believe that they did anything else with my laptop. This is unfortunate, as I would like to support local businesses.

I have used several repair shops, but this is the first one I found that was actually honest with me. I have had my computer in a couple of times because I have a grandchild that likes to play games on it. My computer is old and it is definitely time for a new one, but these guys have kept me running and I don't know anything about fixing the computer so I have complete confidence. I am sure it is hard to please everyone and I don't expect miracles, some do, but I appreciate these guys and will continue to do business with them.

I'd like to rate this place ZERO STARS -- but "yelp" won't let me! OWCR charged me $102.84 for computer repairs then sent me home with someone else's computer. When I returned demanding my computer, I was cursed and told to get out! For over 2 years, P.J. Koenig at On Wheels Computer Repair Co. Inc. serviced my computer -- in my home and in their shop.
He was helpful, polite, knowledgeable, and professional. I recommended his services to all my friends and neighbors. I called P.J. last week because my computer had developed a lot of "pop-ups". He told me to bring my hard-drive into the shop on Monday May 20, 2013 and it would be ready on Wed. May 22. At the shop, I handed it directly to P.J. along with a note detailing the repairs needed.
When I returned on Wed., it wasn't ready, and the shop owner/manager, Bill, said P.J. no longer worker there. Bill asked me to come back the next day. When I returned on Thursday, Bill charged me $102.84 -- and sent me home with a hard-drive containing none of my files or programs! The top of the unit was covered with stick-on labels of names and words that meant nothing to me.
I thought the labels were just some in-shop tracking system. I hooked up the hard-drive at my home and realized it wasn't my system. Nothing was there of mine -- no photos, no documents, no programs, no emails. I called the shop and was told to bring it back. At the shop I asked, what have you done to my computer? This was not what I brought in, and if I was given someone else's computer, have you given mine to another customer?
Bill went behind the counter, found my hard-drive (without stickers or labels), hooked it up, loaded up my files, and then tried to pass it off as the one he had sent home with me. He said he had no idea why I couldn't access my information -- even though it was obviously physically not the same hard-drive he gave me earlier! I asked if the repairs I had requested had even been done.
He said they had. So what did you do, I asked. He became very belligerant, CURSED me, and told me to take my hard-drive and get out! I supposed he's stressed since he lost his best tech. (the ONLY tech. I ever met in over 2 years). But he didn't have to take out his stress on me -- a longtime customer! I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would have been if he had been in my home working on my computer when he became so aggressive and threatening. He never apologized for cursing me or for losing my hard-drive!

This is not a place I would ever recommend. I brought my laptop on a Friday for a worm removal, and was told that it would be $79. I said okay, but that was my ceiling. "PJ", apparently the only technician, said it would be ready by about 2pm the next day. I called at 1pm to see if it was on schedule, and he said, no, there was a problem with the administration rights and he had to remove the hard drive and was starting to back up the data.
I asked if the programs would be okay, and he said no, they would have to be removed to reinstall Windows 7, but that I could reinstall MS Office from my disks. I explained that I had bought my computer from my last job, and that they went out of business, so I didn't have Office, so don't do it. He said he'd look for a copy of Office at their shop, and I said if they did that, then it would be okay as long as all data was backed up.
To make a long arduous story short, the laptop continued to have delays and wasn't finished until about 4pm on Tuesday the next week. And the coupon that PJ told me to clip to save $10 off an $89 price for virus removal and the added "optimization" process, wasn't honored. The new price for that service was $99, and beyond that, this was no longer a virus removal (really?) and the bill was $140.67.
When I explained that was NEVER approved, nor even discussed, Why not make it $250? it was a situation where the owner, Bill, said pay it or you won't get the laptop. Wow. Maybe they had a old car repair scam going on the side too. There are other places in northeast Dallas to choose from, some that will stick by a $99 flat fee for any PC repair--go there. I've had a number of PCs repaired for my business in Los Angeles, and have never been treated this way. Maybe if you have a situation where they can just order a part and stick it in, they won't change the price. But who knows, wanna find out the hard way?

The people in the place are really nice and easy to talk to, and I really felt confortable leaving my computer in their hands, but being friendly can't run a business alone. I brought my computer to them having issues with recognizing the hard drive, and after three days, they called me back saying I'd need to pay $130 for them to put windows 7 OS on my computer because all the data was gone, and after paying that i would still have to provide my own product key.
So basically they asked me to pay them $130 for them to not save any of my software, and to do something that I could do myself. I declined this and instead took it to a friend who knew how to work with computer. I got a call from him the next day saying that he got everything back on it and that basically what the repairmen I took it to said was wrong.
Not to mention my friend did it for free. These people said it would be impossible to get back the data on my computer, unless i sent it off somewhere else that would cost me 600-700 dollars for data recovery, but obviously it wasn't impossible because my friend corrected the problem with ease.

After using Geeks and a list of others these people are the ONLY ones that were able to figure out and fix what was wrong with my system. I also had them out to our office and within hours our entire network was running as it was new. These people KNOW THEIR BUSINESS and will have all of mine and anyone that i know from this point on. People need to look at these folks for support and any repairs they have a need for. You cannot beat the price.

My MacBook fell three feet from a table to a tile floor. Destroyed the display, ruined my day. I called an Apple-authorized repair shop that had upgraded my hard drive earlier this year. They estimated $300 for the replacement LCD and 1 1/2 hours labor at $142. A total of $442 plus tax. On my way to the Apple store at Northpark, I stopped at On Wheels Computer Repair in my neighborhood on East Northwest Highway near Plano Road in northeast Dallas.
While they work mostly on PCs, they said they could easily replace the screen on the Mac. Gave me an estimate, ordered the screen, and installed it in less than an hour when it arrived a few days later. They charged me $200 for the screen, $15 for shipping, and $45 labor -- total $260 plus tax! These people are very good, very fair and reasonable, and they even make house calls.
I was very happy with the service, the cost, and the five-day turnaround. Incidentally, after getting their estimate, I went on to the Apple store to compare what they would charge to replace the screen. Can you believe $755 plus tax? Maybe they think that if they charge that much you'll just spring for a new one.

As an older US Navy veteran I did not grow up with this technology. Both Bill and Chris were knowledgeable on all hardware and software topics as well as courteous in customer relations. They are a great team—Bill runs the shop & Chris goes on repair housecalls, if needed. They’ve earned my confidence. I recommend them to everyone.
