Davis Computer Doctor

My dad's computer (Windows 10) had a boot failure and he needed to get it fixed or have his data recovered so he could do his taxes (I am out of state and couldn't fix it). I found Computer Doctor online and they had some good reviews so I gave them a call. I was quoted the prices for the various repair scenarios and they were good prices.

I then saw on their website that they did in home repairs which was perfect as my dad would have problems taking apart and hooking his computer back up. I called on Friday and he said he had a open appointment the following day. It wasn't an easy repair but Jamie was able to recover all of the data, re-image the OS, and reinstall all of the data during the in house appointment.

While he was recovering my dad's computer he gave me the detailed information over the phone of what he was doing and what issues he found. He also took the time to set up some apps and my dad had a fully functional computer and has already started his taxes. I would give more than 5 stars and definitely recommend this place for computer repairs.

I have used the Computer Doctor for my law office for several years. Jamie is always practical and cost effective. He strives for the least cost solution (in time and money) even when it is against his interest. He has great communication skills. I wish I had found him sooner.

Excellent service at really reasonable prices. Spilled coffee on my laptop and he opened it up and dried it fully, working now.

Payed $20 for dusting, was expecting something better, nice guy though.

Reasonable pricing, good communication, and knowledgeable expertise relayed back to me. I can normally perform my own PC repair but he helped me out with a complicated issue. I'd highly recommend his services over big box stores.

He charged me for not telling me what he did to my computer, neither diagnosing the computer issue, and obviously not fixing it. On top of that, he was anoyed with me for going to his store at a time we already agreed. Went to another computer repair store, where it took 5 min to solve it. Dissapointed with Computer Doctor.

Jamie was as advertised and more. I gave him a run down on my MacBook Pro from 2010: due to it no longer charging following an entanglement with my dog in my home office. I provided Jamie with my thoughts on the battery, port or adapter being defective after the event. He provided a price to replace the port and asked that I send him the make and model.

His next response was that the computer was too old to fix and the motherboard was most likely the culprit. I wanted to go through the checkpoints to ensure my laptop was gone so I asked if he had another charger I could try to see if the adapter was the issue. He said he did and would not charge me (no pun intended) to come by and see if it worked. Lo and behold, the computer charged with a different adapter.

He not only provided me with how much it would cost to get a new one, but stopped to think if he had an extra one. He found one, a bit on the dirty side but fully functional, told me how to clear in properly and only charged me $20. Saving myself two zeros on a computer thanks to Jamie's patience will always be worth it to me.

A life saver! My MacBook was destroyed when my apartment flooded while I was living in the south. Tried to recover my data in New Orleans but everybody wanted 200+ dollars and it would take them days or had to send the hard drive in. Luckily I moved to driving distance to the computer doctor! He was so so reasonable! Only 45$ if minimal files needing to be recovered and 80$ for a larger amount. In a day he was able to recover the documents for me. He was very nice as well. If I ever have any computer issues in the future he will be my first call.

For years now we've been using the computer doctor at our businesses and is always quick to help. When you have a business to run that can't wait he will be there!

Jamie is great! I called around for a few quotes and found Jamie to be the best priced and most helpful. I wanted to upgrade my 2013 iMac hard drive to make it run faster and someone offered to open it and change it for $200 but didn't guarantee they won't crack the glass. Jamie recommended another option and it worked perfectly! My iMac is so much faster and no longer freezes. Thank you so much Jamie!

I have used Jamie for many years both for my personal home computers and for my business in Davis. Jamie is excellent at what he does! His prices are very reasonable. He gets the work done quickly and I've always been satisfied. He's come to my business on super short notice and solved problems that would have been very costly. Highly recommend!

Very happy with Jamie's services. Initially I called about getting my trackpad replaced and mentioned my battery was getting bad too. He told me to buy a battery on amazon and bring it to him for replacing, and also stated that he would take a look at the trackpad to see if it actually needed repairing (he had his doubts with the symptoms I described.) Before finding the Computer Doctor, I went to Tech2u in Vacaville where they gave me an estimate of $70 -but after a week and a half without my laptop they finally diagnosed the problem AFTER I called them for an update, and wanted to charge me $330 just to replace the trackpad. Jamie replaced my battery, cleaned up my trackpad and got my trackpad working in almost perfect condition, he also replaced missing screws for only $20.

Not to mention I dropped off my laptop and picked it up on the same day, it only took him an hour! Jamie is honest, trustworthy, and very informative. I highly recommend his services and will be returning for future needs.

Must check this place out for any tech problems! My laptop suddenly stopped powering on and I needed it urgently fixed. I came here and the job was done within 24 hours that too at a REALLY cheap price. Great service. Not scared of my laptop or phone not working anymore when I am in Davis.

Dropped my laptop and I needed the bottom re-secured. Very last minute, I came by and dropped off my laptop. He replaced the screws and made sure everything was good for to go $20, all in an hour. THANK YOU! Great service, super nice guy

Great service at a great price. I called Jamie because I needed to get a battery changed on my Mac. He was very thorough in helping me purchase the right battery and offered useful advice after quickly completing the replacement. What's even better is that the total amount I spent came up to half of what another shop in Davis said it would cost. I definitely recommend Computer Doctor.

Excellent, quick, professional service! Jamie responded to an emergency plea for help by stopping by the house to work on my computer crash within 30 minutes of my call. He cleaned & removed all my viruses & restored my lost applications -with all stored data -within minutes. He also gave me a great recommendation for a better back up system. James was just amazing! Very fast, really willing to help. He replaced my son's gaming lap top hard disc for a very reasonable price. When after one week lap top stopped working due to fall, he was very generous by offering refund if the hard disc he installed. That was very thoughtful and kind offer. Thank you!

I spilled a drink on my laptop and my laptop shut off immediately. After trying to drain all the water and drying them and try to turn it on by myself, the computer is not turning on at all. Sent my laptop to this guy few days after hoping that he could save it. Also asked him to thoroughly clean the whole inside and he said hew would do it and he handled this kind of case before.

For $50, if im not mistaken, he managed to bring back my laptop alive. Used the laptop for few months with no problem at all. And all of a sudden on one day my laptop died again. Sent to another repair shop and they discovered that one of the chip on the motherboard was fried due to the water spilling on top of it from the crevices under the keyboard.

Well apparently he didnt do a good job cleaning the inside of the laptop. I even have the pictures of the inside of the laptop that was not cleaned. The only way to save the laptop now is by replacing the motherboard which costs around 250, a quarter of the original price of the laptop. Well done Doctor. Not recommended due to the lack of professionality, did a bad job on solving the problem, and luing to customer.

Very grateful for his services! I'm a musician and accidentally deleted my music hard drive with 5 years of music projects. Yeah, the panic was real. But I brought it into him and he was able to recover it all! I brought it in on a Thursday, had a show that I needed the files for on Saturday. I was able to pick it up Saturday morning and play without a hitch. I'll be back next time I delete all my stuff!

This guy knows what he is doing. quick, affordable, honest, and persistent.

The computer doctor is the REAL DEAL. Don't waste your time looking for rates or help elsewhere. You'll get your best work done here, efficiently/honestly/affordably. I've come to him for help twice now. The first time i had an older MacBook Pro. I believe it was a 2011. I called because I was wanting to sell this laptop, but It wasn't in selling condition.

I told him my situation and mentioned that i was trying to resell it and he told me he would clean it out and make it workable for the next person. I called him maybe around 4-6pm (i don't remember) but he answered and said he could get it done later this night! He was very efficient with the process and helped me tremendously with selling this product.

And for wiping the laptop and updating the OS System, he charged me a lot less than I thought. Maybe because I've been through a lot of other places who charge an arm and leg to just merely LOOK at things. This has also swayed me from getting things fixed. But because of the computer doctor, these feelings have changed. Fast forward and my own laptop was having problems.

I have an early 2014 MacBook Air and I was having space issues. My photo library would never open, I could never save documents, I basically was just browsing the web. I couldn't REALLY use my laptop. I was getting real tired of this so made a call to the computer doctor. It was really close to closing time. I called him about my problem and he said I could bring it by that night!.

Once I brought it by, he totally understood my problems and said he would have it done the next day! I brought an external hard drive just in case he needed to make room for my laptop. turns out, i didn't even need the external i had plenty of room in my laptop. He cleared things out, updated my system, and just like that my beloved laptop was back to me.

You guys I can't stress the affordability this guy gives! He really is so efficient, honest and affordable. Thanks computer doctor for always being a savior to my technological needs.

Updating my Review: Almost 2 years later and my laptop is still in great shape! But please note that I graduated UCD in March 2016 and mainly use my laptop after my full time job and for my leisure time of movies and surfing the net now. No major issues have occurred and my Mac Book is an early 2011, was bought in Dec 2011. Good luck! I hope that my review was helpful for all the current students and residents of Davis!

I was in Davis to visit my daughter, but had plenty of work I needed to finish. When I arrived at the hotel, my laptop's battery had suddenly become detached.it was such a strange experience because I had no idea what had caused this to occur. I then compounded the problem by trying to fiddle [and push in] the battery. I called James at 320 pm and he said he thought he could fix it although he had a 4 pm appointment.

I drove right over (he works out of his home at the end of a cul de sac. I thought I was lost at first. He not only was able to use his tools to address the problem (which I had made worse) so that the battery slotted right back in, but charged too LITTLE! He was extremely pleasant to boot. Then, he took the time to send me a link to the battery I would want to obtain if I wanted to possess a backup, but he believed that it was unnecessary. Thank you. Remarkably competent, pleasant and reasonable!

My computer stopped working suddenly yesturday, and I needed it fixed right away. A friend recommended Computer Doctor, and I called, well great service and great price, my computer is running super now. I recommend Computer Doctor.

I was having difficulty with a system re-install. I e-mailed the Computer Doctor and got an immediate response. Jamie took my computer that night, and by 8 am the next day it was ready to go.. The system was extremely stable and the Computer Doctor saved me hours of headache. I highly recommend his service.

I have used Davis Computer Doctor many times and I have never been disappointed with his work. I can't believe the bad review I just read about him and his work as it is so different from my experience. I have been working with computers since 1958 and I think I know a lot about them, and the computer Doctor in my opinion is very competent and polite.

I would not hesitate to recommend him. He certainly has not ever charged me too much for work he has done and I remain amazed that he charges so little for what he accomplishes.

Having a problem with my Dell communicating with my printer and Mac late at night. I called Davis Computer Doctor after 8 pm. He was at my business in 20 mins. He fixed the problem in 20 mins and only charged me for 15 mins.

My computer was so infected with viruses the mouse did not even work. The computer was frozen and would do nothing. The Computer Doctor found, and was able to remove all the malicious viruses and spyware. I was about to go out and buy a new computer but now it is not necessary. The work of The Computer Doctor is worth every penny to get a system running correctly. The work is professional and very reasonable in price. Highly recommended.

My computer died, stopped working. Called and talked to Davis Computer Doctor on Sunday. I was given options and by late this afternoon, I received all my data back. The price was right, and great job all around. I purchased a new computer at best buy and Davis Computer Doctor transferred all my data. I am very pleased with the professional work.

I have all my pictures from the last number of years since i first purchased digital photo stuff. I could not find them anywhere on my computer. I called Davis Computer Doctor because I liked the name. Well they answered right away, and I brought my computer into their shop. Within hours I had all my photos. I will take the suggestion of getting an external hard drive. I am very happy with both the speed of my problem solved, and the cost was ok too. This is by far the best place for computer repair.

I emailled Davis Computer Doctor, and I received an email back within a few minutes. I brought my computer into their shop, and by the end of the day my computer was all fixed and running like new. The repair was under $50 great service and great price. I will bring my computer back to Davis Computer Doctor if I have any problems.

I called around and no one answered, then I called Davis Computer Doctor, and they picked up right away. I got a reasonable price to fix my computer, dropped it off this morning. I just picked it up a little while ago, and it is perfect. What a great job. Davis Computer Doctor is the best.
