I would give zero stars if possible. I've used My Computer Works several times, for convenience. I've questioned some of their conclusions with past issues, but had mostly been satisfied. A couple of times, the problem was resolved using a "bandaid. For example, my Brother wireless printer wasn't working. We spent several hours on the phone and he couldn't get it to work.
He said that they don't recommend Brother because of problems like this and if I wanted to continue using the printer, I would have to get a printer cable because my printer didn't have any other type of connection. I bought the cable and I bought a new printer a few weeks ago. This review is not related in any way to the Brother printer issue.
I had a horrible experience yesterday with both the online tech, as well as the on-site tech. The story is too long and detailed to relate here. This is a advice to you. Technology today is fraught with problems and the products are of a lesser quality than in the past. Pay the extra money up front for an extended warranty. If repairs are required, find a local reputable company to work with, even if it's a little less convenient.
In addition to the My Computer Works monthly subscription fee of $39, I will probably be charged between $600-$700 for the tech visit yesterday, plus my new printer was over $400. My laptop is 3 years old. I rarely use it. Had I known how long the tech was going to be here that long, I probably would have purchased a new laptop. Their onsite charges are $247 for the first two hours, then $137 per hour after that.
One other note. I received a survey from My Computer Works this morning in my email. The first question is within the email. Once you click on the corresponding number, it launches a survey in your browser. I was looking forward to filling it out. I clicked on the number, it launched my browser. Rather than the rest of the survey coming up, there was a response that said "It appears that we have already received your survey results.
Thank you." My guess is that they pulled the survey, because they knew that they wouldn't receive a good review from me. I guess that that's their way of manipulating the numbers to make them look like people are satisfied with their service.

Just had a great sales consultation experience with Chauncey at My Computer Works, Inc. - Chauncey (remotely) in Arizona, me in Chicago. Chauncey was decent, patient, honest, and very knowledgeable about all the techy stuff. He listened carefully, anticipated my concerns, and generously provided helpful information and directions as it relates to setting up my new Dell desktop computer. I called and explained my situation. The person taking my call put me on an appointment that was going to cost me almost $300. He failed to mention cancelation fees. Anyways he gave me his number and he told me himself to call if I needed to cancel. I was looking through their website and I thought "hey this monthly subscription sounds like something I would prefer" The person who took my call didn't offer any other option other than the appointment for almost $300.
I called back and I spoke to the same person, and told him that I wanted the thecnical support on a more often terms just like the website mentions, not just one visit. I wanted to subscribe not to cancel. Next person who called me told me that I owed $50 because I couldn't get canceled 22 hours before my appointment. Appointment that it was barely scheduled. He told me that the thecnic was on his way when our appointment was 5 hours away

HEY, try these people. You're not going to get any better support than this from any other company. If you want PATIENT, knowledgeable support from tech that really listens, and not trying to hurry you off the phone to make a quota, MyComputerWorks is who you're gonna call. There a serious problem contacting accounts payable to cancel my account. I called them 3 days in a row and they promise to return a call within 24, and so far, it's been over 80 hours.
No phone call back and no email to me. I assume they are are very busy. But still I think some they should get back to me. Called back sales on 12/31/21 talked to Chauney in sales because accounts payable only took phone messages. Chancy told me, "Nate will call me back today" for some reason Nate did NOT call me back, NOR email me. Unfortunately I call to call my credit card company to enter a dispute. No other company that I had talk to accounts payable will not call me back or email me! MCW your service is excellent but you billing is horrible. Fix it!

Recently, the Techs at the Computer Store have helped me recover my google gmail account. They also provide a monthly "Cleaning" at no extra charge. This company is a must have for independent contractor consultants such as myself. The monthly charge is reasonable to keep things running smoothly at a moments notice. The only complaint, They are so good that keeps them busy and it may take some time for a response. Well worth the wait!

I have used My Computer Works since the beginning of this year, drawing on the help obtained by the techs at the Burbank office. In every case, the results have been 100% satisfactory! I would be lost without this service. They are prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and with older people, patient because we are generally so ill-prepared to use computers. I had an issue with google drive access and my laptop is "dying". They recommended I pick up a "hard drive" back up. Then they made sure it was backed up and ready for my new laptop. Extremely helpful, I have a an "analog" brain, not tech. Solved it with efficiency and I was able to continue my work confidently.

Extremely disappointed in this company. My computer had a blue screen so I called them. A very friendly man said yes we can help, he set up an appointment for the following day after getting my details and taking my credit card number. Next day noone calls noone shows! I called back. Another very helpful guy says so sorry was a mixup but absolutely a tech guy will be out tomorrow. Tomorrow comes same thing no call, no show! Is this a real company or a joke? As yet my cc has bern charged and it better not be but I will not be calling them back!

We have reported you to law enforcement and to the better business bureau you took advantage of my 78 year old elderly grand mother quoted her a firm price of $275 charged her almost $400... how convenient is it that the tech who has been texting me and calling me all of a sudden changes his number!!! We will be stopping the payment from the bank and reporting you and taking you to small claims !!!! You should be ashamed!!!! It’s amazing what being related to law enforcement gets you !!!! Shame on you guys!!!

Well, it appears My Computer Works somehow masked or deleted my previous review. fights on. If I could give a negative review for this company I would. Absolutely unacceptable in every level. I asked for help to strengthen my WiFi signal in one corner of my house. All I needed was help in activating a boaster I had already bought. I finally had to ask the gentlemen to leave when not only did he not improve the signal but he further degraded it to intermittent throughout the house. Worse by several magnitudes than when he first walked in.
Now the worse part I called several times to speak to the owner about the charge. the lady on the phone kept telling me that her supervisor would call me back. crickets never a call back. They did however charge me for the house call + 200.00. Without ever giving me the courtesy of a call back. I have filed a complaint with the Arizona Better Business Bureau and the Arizona Corporation Commission.
Both agency's told me that they will be delayed to respond directly until the COVID-19 crisis abated to some lower level. I cannot caution you enough to be careful working with this company.
Now the worse part I called several times to speak to the owner about the charge. the lady on the phone kept telling me that her supervisor would call me back. crickets never a call back. They did however charge me for the house call + 200.00. Without ever giving me the courtesy of a call back. I have filed a complaint with the Arizona Better Business Bureau and the Arizona Corporation Commission.

If there were negative numbers available for this rating I would certainly have used them. The customer service or i should say lack of customer is / was horrific. I asked if they could come out and take a look at a corner of my house that was intermittent in its ability to receive a WiFi signal. I had even purchased a WiFi extender/booster and had asked if they could help set it up.
The technician arrived at the appointed time (some credit due there) and immediately began to brainstorm a better way of making the WiFi signal stronger in the specified area. He tried several options with no improvement and actually less of a signal than what I started with. to the point that when he finally gave up my internet service to the entire house was intermittent and significantly worse than when he first entered the house.
Even with that, that's not the main concern. I called the office at My Computer Works to express dissatisfaction with the condition their company left my internet capability. I asked to speak with a supervisor reference what their charge was going to be based on the fact that not only did they not fix the original issue, but at the end of the day it was significantly worse than when they first arrived.
Their 250.00 visit charge was a bit steep but understandable and accepted when i made the appointment.however upping the charge to 450.00 seemed excessive given that it was worse than when they first showed up. They said they would have a supervisor call me.its now been over a week and half and they have still bot called nor returned the numerous messages I have left.
I noticed today they processed my credit card for 400.00 dollars, again without calling to discuss with me. I would caution anyone that conducts business with My Computer Works. Unacceptable customer service on so many levels. I will file a complaint with the BBB and Arizona Corporation Commission. You cannot treat people like this. Unacceptable customer support.

Actually, I went back and checked my calls, and had not received one from your company, but thank you for the tech service. Techs were very helpful, responded quickly to my questions, knowledgeable and got me where I needed to be with my computer. Service was well worth the cost and I would use again.

Sadly, my experience with the "technician" that was assigned to me wasn't a great one. Although he seemed to be a nice person, he kept insisting it would take 2 hours to mount a 40" flat screen TV and a cable cover (which affixes on to the wall). Having done this a few times myself, this job should only take 40 minutes (I already had the mounting bracket, and I bought the cable cover because he technician said it would take him awhile to find it at a hardware store).
My appointment was originally scheduled from 1 - 5pm on a Friday. But when I hadn't heard from the person by 4pm, I called the company to ask for a status update. First, they asked me to call the tech myself, but I insisted they reach out to him since they had scheduled the appointment. The tech finally called, and said he'd prefer to come by the next morning (even though he admitted he was "down the street" from me).
So I rearranged my schedule to accommodate the tech. Then, I had to almost argue with him because he kept making excuses as to why it was a "tricky" install. I ended up having to direct the install (had him locate the stud in the wall, mounted the bracket to the tv, I held the tv while he drilled wood screws into the wall, and I had to place the cables in the cable cover.
The cable cover needed to be cut down a bit, which the tech started to do over one of my fabric-covered chairs (with a razor). I asked him to cut over his tool bag so as not to ruin my furniture (and I politely let him know that if he damaged the chair he would be replacing it). The job took less than 45 minutes to complete. I was charged 1 hour's worth of work.
Then I was asked to fill out the survey at the end of the contract - the tech stood and looked over my shoulder the entire time. I felt uncomfortable by the whole situation, and felt like I had no choice but to give a good rating. I will be getting one, maybe two tv's and will need to install.if the technician they sent is the same person I'd have to use, I will look for another company.

This is the third time I am amending this review. I had been trying to cancel my account with this company for several weeks, had phoned them several times, and emailed them twice with no response from them. I initially gave them a one-star review because I was sooo frustrated that I could not reach a human being in billing. All you can contact is a message machine.
Their technical service was fine. They did a great job. The reason I'm leaving has nothing to do with their service. I purchased a new laptop and when I did that I also purchased online service through Office Depot for that new laptop. My issue came about when I could not make contact with the MCW billing department to cancel. Finally, I did receive an email that my account had been closed. I'd like to give them 4 stars, but I'm still emotional about all this, so I'll give them 3 stars. Again, their technical service is very good.

After I had a lot of problems caused by two workers at My Computer Works, Eli phoned me from Tech Support at My Computer Works on 4/4/18 at 7:43 PM PST. He was honest and helpful, returning my computer to the condition it was in before another worker at My Computer Works had tampered with my computer. I am now satisfied.

I have never failed to get the service and respect I wanted when in some extremely stressful predicaments with my computer. My technician, Matt, has stuck with me over days...weeks now...to get it resolved and back up to speed, avoiding total data loss. My laptop was critically infected with a virus and of course I called My Computer Works. Allen & Hayden worked for over 2 days to get rid of the virus and completely restore my laptop. Having something major like this happens makes me realize how valuable their service is. They are worth every penny and really come through when you are in a bind!

I've been using My Computer Works for a number of years now, so obviously I've been a fan. However, I pay for Executive service which is supposed to guarantee a call back within 30 minutes. Two of the last three times I've called, it has taken over 2 hours to get a call back. I do get a free month of service added to my contract, but I want the service I was promised. I think they're either getting too busy, or they're going down the tubes. Let's hope they're busy and that they correct the major service issue! Gary

MCW is terrific! We had to replace our failing hard drive and the techs helped us before and after we replaced it. It took many hours over the weekend (as we knew it would). They were obviously diligent in creating their notes as they handed us off to the next Tech working the weekend shifts. When we had a billing concern, the customer service rep resolved it quickly and efficiently. We would highly recommend MCW to anyone who needs computer support!

They were able to fix my laptop (broken hard drive, he was able to recover all the files / mp3s / pictures) AND fixed my iphon4 (screen cracks) at the same time. Very fast service, as it only took one day to get it all done. The store is well located and very convenient to get all the computer / iPhone related issues fixed in same location.
