PC/MAC GURU is prepared to consult with customers over the phone, and when needed, arrange "porch pick-up" service calls and re-delivery using critical sanitation practices. Short calls are free of charge; longer calls may result in trouble-shooting and/or walking clients through a "fix" at an agreed-upon fee. As long lines and social distancing create issues for many people in visiting retailers, I also am happy to stand in for you at the Apple Store and Genius Bar for purchases and/or repair consultations.
Services
In order to begin, exploratory discussions are free of charge. In many cases, these consultations yield enough information to proceed without my further involvement. That is to say, my goal is to determine if I may quickly help someone to a solution. Frequently a new client is someone I have helped in this manner, who returns because they've come to trust me.

Working with Tom was a pleasure. He was very patient with my lack of technological abilities. He explained things very well and worked with me to get me exactly what I needed to suit my needs. My husband and I are both extremely happy with Tom's services and expertise. He was friendly, professional and all was done in a very timely manner. As most computer problems normally happened, on a late Friday afternoon my MAC crashed. I had Bootcamp loaded on the MAC and somewhere/somehow something went real bad. I emailed Tom on Sunday morning, simply to get on his radar for Monday morning. Little did I expect he would email back within 15 min or so.again, on a Sunday morning! He suggested I call and go over with him the issues.
He patiently laid out the possible issues and potential outcomes, which varied from good to dreadful. On the both the MAC and Bootcamp side was data and pictures I had not backed up. Tom said I could bring the laptop by on Sunday for him to look at. Again.on a Sunday. I will shorten the story. Tom worked on the laptop during the week, saved data on both the MAC and Bootcamp side.
He was in constant contact with me during the process. His detail to customer service as outstanding! From a technical standpoint, he made everything right and was in complete communication with me the entire time. Hopefully, I will not have a reason to use Tom again: However, if ever a need for computer help again, I would call Tom immediately.

On a Monday morning, it was just me and my 2008 MacBook Pro. We were working on a google doc and the keyboard quit. I immediately emailed Tom because I already trust Tom. He installed my existing equipment and he always provides expert guidance, information and timelines so that I can feel confident. The next thing I know, he has selected a 2020 MacBook Pro that's suitable for my current and future requirements.
I approve the order. Due to my schedule, Tom picked my new computer from the Apple Store on Friday. He swings by my home office (with mask and gloves due to COVID) to pick up my existing equipment which includes a 2008 iMac. Tom brings everything back to his office where he does the switcheroo and integrates the new and existing Macs. On Saturday, Tom delivered and installed everything with mask and gloves.
The whole process was enjoyable and took less time and effort than I ever thought possible. I'm grateful, and I avoided costly mistakes. I'll contact Tom when I'm ready to purchase a new 2021 iMac.

TRUSTWORTHY, KNOWLEDGEABLE and AFFORDABLE are the words that come to mind when I think about the service I received from Tom the PC/Mac Guru in Algonquin, IL. When my 12-year-old MacBook Pro unexpectedly quit on me, Tom took over the entire process of getting me back up and running with a new one. He handled every single detail, from placing the order with Apple to configuring and installing all of my programs and files.

Tom has been taking care of my computers for 15 years. He is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, totally honest, will come to your home for pickup and delivery and speaks English, not computerese. His prices are fair and upfront. He has repaired my computer in a matter of a couple of hours, not days, . I recommend Tom without qualification.

It's difficult to know whom to trust when sending off your iMac to someone to fix it. Tom immediately put me at ease on the phone with his calm and friendly demeanor, vast experience with my particular computer, and his unwavering integrity.
