I e-mailed to ask how much would it cost to replace my macbook pro battery. The answer was clear: we can make it, but it is cheaper for you to go to macbook store. They gave me their price, the services they include ( they come home to change the battery if you need!) and the price in a macbook store. I never used their services, but the fact that they were that honest made me think they are reliable. Next time, if I'm in a hurry and cannot wait for the 5 days apple takes to repair a computer, I will definitely contact them.

Everything went as smoothly as possible, despite a bit of confusion about appointment times, and this is a front-room business with no waiting area (so walked around the block for a few minutes). Zach was professional, courteous, and didn't try to hard-sell anything that I didn't want or need. In short, I got exactly what I came in looking for and no more and no less. Will use his services again, and highly recommend to others.

I spent months searching for a non-flaky Mac repair operation in Brownstone Brooklyn. So many unreturned e-mails and phone calls, plus those clowns who used to have the store on Fifth Avenue that closed months ago but still list the address on their Web site as open. I finally found Zach, and I'm glad I did. For about $200, he tuned up a desktop Mac that is about 4-5 years old, added some new memory, updated all the software and turned it around in 24 hours. I probably could have done some of this myself, but I get some relief from knowing that it's in the hands of a pro. I wish I had done a better search on Yelp earlier.

I called this place yesterday to get a quote, but was redirected to their website to send an email. They got back to me this morning, which is fairly quick, hence the 2 stars for fast turnaround time. They lose 3 stars because of their absurd over-pricing. They quoted me nearly DOUBLE what the apple store did for a simple battery replacement. The battery costs $129 direct from Apple, and NYC Mac Support wanted $225 for a new one ($100 markup!) or $175 for a used one.
When I emailed them back to ask why exactly they were charging so much more, I got this response: "Apple's supply costs are apparently much lower for this item." The majority of the positive yelp reviews for this place seem to come from accounts new accounts with one or two reviews for other places, so I'm guessing they're from friends and relatives trying to help the owner out. I've called a number of other places and gotten prices as low as $100 for the *exact* same work that this place was offering, and they actually picked up the phone when I called. I'd skip this place if I were you. Update: I'm removing one more star because I received a few emails from "Zach" at this company, basically asking me to change my review.
No apologies, just a bunch of excuses and back and forth. He asked that I update my review if his original assessment was correct, about my battery being a special order. Wrong- it was the standard part and it took them 10 minutes to replace it at the Apple store. $129+tax for the exact same thing he was asking $225 for. Again, seriously not someone I'd want to do business with. ***In response to Zach F's email: Again, you are wrong.
My 2009 Macbook took the same $129 battery that you claimed was a special order. When you are wrong, admit that you are wrong. You either didn't have the proper knowledge to know of the correct part, or were interested in scamming me for an extra $100. Either way, I stand by my review. You seem to genuinely be confused as to what you did wrong.
That is ultimately what concerns me the most. Again, folks, if you had any doubts about why *not* to do business with this person, please take the time to read my review and his response.

Picture it. My BFF and I were vending at an event at the Bell House on a *gorgeous* summer day. Only after we arrive, did we realize that we forgot our phone charger, and we would be working the venue for 10+ hours. Yeah.not have a working smartphone while working an event? That's like describing Dante's Circles of Hell.the special one for internet addicts. Heh. Anyhoo, as we were pulling up to the Bell House, I spied a sign for "Mac Support".
I quickly drop my stuff off and book it over there in hopes they had a power cord I could buy. The short story: they had it, even though it took forget to get it (and it wasn't even an "official" Apple charger.not that it matters.but the charger was more expensive than the official ones). The TL:DR version: So I see the banner hanging from the side of the building but no store-front.nor any sign that says "*THIS* is the building/door that you want".
After trying 2 or 3 doors, I finally figured out the right door.only to be confronted by stairs, an elevator, and a long hallway. Seriously?! I just want a stupid power charger! At this point, a creeper that was following me around on the streets just walked through the doors that I came in. I tried the elevator, but evidently it shuts down at 2pm.
What what? *sigh* I know, only *I* could get into this drama over buying a charger. Where was I? Oh yes, so the creeper just walked through the door into this totally empty building, the elevator wasn't working.so I did the only logical thing a girl in 4" heels in a strange city, in an empty building could do. I bolted up the stairs. Fortunately, when I got to the 2nd floor, there was a sign to go down another hallway to get to the store.
I ran into that store so fast, it was ridiculous. Once there, it was a lovely and airy space that resembled more like a studio than a tech support shop. There were two or three people working there, and one or two other customers. I stood around for 10 minutes, trying to catch a sales/tech person's eye, before someone pointed me to a sign up sheet. Really? *double sigh* The moment I finished sign-in in, someone came up to help me.
Come on.really? Anyways, the tech guy was super helpful and was able to get me a phone charger immediately. Even though it wasn't an official Apple product, yet it cost *more* than an official Apple charger. *triple sigh*. But the important thing was I got my charger, right? And the tech guy was very nice and helpful.

As a web developer I assumed I was computer savvy enough to fix my Macbook Pro when it failed to boot up. After wasting 2 days searching mac user forums and support blogs for the answer, I set up an appointment with NYC Mac Support. I dropped off my computer and 45min later Zach contacted me to tell me he'd diagnosed the issue. Forty-five freakin minutes!
He quoted a VERY reasonable repair estimate (both time and cost) and got it done. He even offered options for rush delivery. The service was priced right, fast, and super professional. I hope I never have to need NYC Mac services again, but if my macbook quits on me, the next time I won't waste two days before I call. I assume that if you've somehow reached this review you're trying to decide which company you're going to trust to help get your broken computer back. Relax, take a deep breath, you've found it. - Sent from my resurrected Macbook Pro

My fiance went to Zach to fix his mac and did a great job at a very reasonable price, so I went to see him with my mac as well. He is extremely reliable and gets the work done the next day or sometimes even that same day if you take it early and depending on how much work he has at the time. I highly recommend him and will return if my mac ever needs repair. Thanks Zach!

Zach has helped me with two separate computer issues both times he was incredibly fast (same day, actually same hour he was able to see me, and he repaired within a day) he tried fixing smaller, cheaper repairs before replacing my hard drive. he's extremely professional and extremely reasonably priced. he was also kind enough to give me advice with the computer and he explained everything to me thoroughly even though he seemed extremely busy with other repairs. and he's a designer so he understood what I needed. basically, this guy rules.

Extremely professional and will get the job done in a timely manner. I spilled a small amount of water on my keyboard and took the appropriate steps to remedy the situation. Unfortunately, a few of the keys stopped working, one of which was part of my password. I took my MacBook to Zach, without an appointment, and he took care of it within a few days.
I really appreciated the fact that he opened it up to assess the damage before actually ordering the new keyboard and replacing it. He kept in touch via text messaging throughout the entire process. He even worked until 1130P on a Friday to get the job done since he told me it would be done on a Friday (I took the computer in on Monday). This is the guy to go to for your Mac needs.

Zach is a lifesaver! He is trustworthy, informed, reliable, and quick. And -VERY- reasonably priced. He is usually able to fix the issue same-day or within a very short time frame, depending on the scope of work. He's sooo much faster than Apple or Tekserve, and he can do repairs that the Geek Squad aren't even capable of doing. Oh, and he actually CARES. Zach also spends time explaining everything to you. He's just great. I highly recommend him!

Zach @NYC Mac Support is fantastic. He replaced the hard drive on my computer in less than a day and for a great price. I don't understand the first thing about computers but he patiently explained what had gone wrong in a way that made it easy for me to understand. I really appreciated that. I'd gone to the genius bar and they don't come close to that level of attention. I'll definitely go to NYC Mac Support again.
