Brought in a 1980's Pioneer receiver for repair. Paid my $80 for an estimate only to hear a few days later that the unit has been "heavily modified" and Alex was much too busy to trace down someone else's "hack repair job". Took it to another repair facility and found out that the issue was a tuning capacitor. Nothing had been modified and the tech said that the unit was probably never even opened up for a diagnostic check. Looked 100% factory according to him.
So while this shop may have a following among some of the vintage hi-fi crowd, I'm of the opinion that Alex "cherry picks" his jobs due to an abundance of work. Still, a huge waste of $80 for me and someone that will never have my future business.

I just wanted to say thank you again to an associate. Sadly I didn't get her name. I called asking about a Fischer TAD-992 stereo CD drive repair and the associate who answered it was incredibly knowledgeable and professional. She told me that y'all don't repair Fischer's anymore and why, and even looked to help me find someone in the minneapolis area who could (unfortunately they didn't pan out). she went the extra mile and helped me find ways to work around the problem. Getting this stereo repaired is the only thing my mom wants for Christmas this year, and I'm really grateful for the help! Thank you for brightening my day!

A gem of a find! My 20-year old Boston Acoustic speaker was acting up, particularly the sub-woofer. These guys were able to fix it and it works perfectly now. They're skilled techs who know what they're doing. No run-around - just great, first-quality work. May 2021 - It has been a few years since I had my one Boston Acoustic speaker serviced here and I now brought my other one in for the same repair.
The are quite slow and when they tell you 5 weeks, you shouldn't expect it any earlier. As others have noted, they won't provide any update until the repair is ready. Cost is not inexpensive, but I believe they do quality work. They are the only place - that I'm awarw of - that will repair powered speakers.

Full disclosure, I have not been to the shop, but 5 stars because of the level of professionalism over the phone. I called in asking about repairs on my Onkyo A/V receiver, and the associate helped me troubleshoot and identify the specific issue. She explained that the defective part is no longer made so they weren't able to do the repair. I scoured online and couldn't find the part either.
I was about to chalk it up as a loss when I stumbled upon a reflow repair solution! I never would've found that info and fix without her help! Note: I would not expect any repair shop to perform the fix I found, the correct way to do it is to replace the defective board. My 'fix' may not last, but got it up and running for the short term!

Extremely nice, competent and timely service. Alex and his team took the time to explain what they did and answered all of my questions. If you have a favorite piece of electronic equipment that is older or just not working the way it used to, I strongly recommend Alex Audio. I will be visiting them again soon for a tape deck. Very pleased customer!
I brought in a Pioneer SX-850 that looked pretty good for its age, and still worked, just not up to its potential. When I picked it up, it looked like I just took it out of the box!

Geek Squad came out and told us there was nothing they could do to repair our Mitsubishi TV. We knew that it was not true because we googled and knew there WAS indeed a solution. Alex Audio to the rescue! I would HIGHLY recommend his company. BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. SUPPORT small businesses please otherwise you may get taken advantage of. In addition he made the TV fully functional after 12 years we are using it to its maximum capabilities.
I can't say enough about this business. The owner was amazing to work with kind, caring all the things you would not find at Geek Squad. Thank you Alex for quality, integrity, and professionalism.

I have had two great experiences with Alex Video. Both were in early December 2013. The first unit which they worked on an older model Yamaha A-32. I was having an issue with bass on the right channel. Alex was able to go in and fix up the unit and the sound is great. Next my tuner, a T-30, lost the FM channels. I brought the unit to Alex to take a look at it.
The unit had a bad capacitor and filter. What is really amazing is that this unit is so old that there are no schematics or parts available. Alex was able to repair by replacing individual components. The repair time on the amp was about three weeks, what they had said. The repair on the tuner took about a week again right in line when they said they would be done. A new tuner would have been about five times the cost of repair so it was well worth repairing. I would use them again based in the great service I have received.
